The headline could have equally have read something along the lines “Stuart scorches round Huntswood” in that he scored a mind-boggling 44 points but although this escalated him into 2nd place in the Eclectic, it was still not enough to overtake PeterR who has reached the 50 point mark.
There are however several players hot on his heels and there are another 3 Eclectic games scheduled so plenty of time for him to be caught on the rails. Amongst the chasing pack moving stealthily closer is that master of the Eclectic, Alan. In past years he has chosen to emerge from his tent at full speed in the early rounds to post uncatchable scores but this year, maybe out of self-amusement, he seems to be going for a totally different approach and is presumably aiming to reach 60 points or so on the final day.
I can’t tell you anything about the golf yesterday because I was not there but one can only surmise that the fairways are continuing to run at high speed with the result that Ballbashers find their balls have reached totally unexpected places leaving them somewhat bemused when it comes to deciding on which of their many wedges should be used for the next shot. I do note, that with the exception of Stuart who scored 23 on the back 9, just about everyone else found the back 9 harder than the front 9.
The team scores reflected this and Stuart and JohnS made off with loads of BashCoins:
Stuart and JohnS 20 + 23 = 43
MikeS and RobA 20 + 12 = 32
PeterR and JohnT 19 + 15 = 34
Alan and RobM 17 + 12 = 29
