Pressurised Novelty at Huntswood

From our correspondent:

” Following an early cancellation by Alan and an early addition of Rob A, two later cancellations by Peter F and Nick resulted in 6 Bashers arriving at Huntswood for a novelty game.

Whilst the charming lady receptionist acknowledged that we had ordered four buggies, she asked if we could squeeze up to make a buggy available for a double amputee.. We, of course, agreed so that Peter R and Mike S shared a buggy, as did Rob A and Bill, leaving John T in a buggy and Rob M the single trolley user.

The balls were thrown and Team A of Rob A, Bill and John T, teed off.

Each team had to count 15 scores on the first nine and the second nine, with the decision made on whether a score was to be taken before starting the next hole.

The weather was good and sweaters were soon removed as the contestants wrestled with the knotty decision over how many twos were taken with the expectation/hope of further threes or fours. Team B lost their nerve on the 15th and took two one pointers, only to score three three pointers on the 17th and have no room for any scores on the 18th. This nine pointer was surpassed by Team A who scored ten points on the 7th, including a birdie three by Rob A

We met outside for an excellent lunch to learn who had won the Bashcoins

It transpired that whilst Team A had the two highest  individual scorers with 35 points each for Bill and John, Team B intermangled more profitably to take the front nine by 40 points to 37, with the back nine being tied at 36 points each.

The format and venue were enjoyed by all, though we all failed to score on a few holes, especially on the second nine”
