“Of the four Ballbashers who participated in this simple but fun Novelty match, only two are due to go to Portugal for the Ballbashers’ Ryder Cup this coming week, suggesting that the other eight participants in the Cup have already honed their skills to the point where they’re feeling super confident.
The four comprised John S, John T, Bill & Nick and we decided that the two Johns should take on Bill & Nick (the two Ryder Cup participants) in a buggy enhanced zip around Temple, made all the quicker by playing off the yellow tees on the front 9 and the green tees on the back 9.
Playing better ball Stableford, both teams were all square at the turn but the two Johns then took a 3 point lead on the 11th which, despite Bill playing some excellent golf throughout, proved unassailable.
Back in the clubhouse, the main talking point was the lack of toasted teacakes meaning that the Victoria Sponge cake took a bit of a hammering as all four of us tucked into it. Delicious…”
