Novelty game Formats

  1. Canadian Greensomes – needs to be in 2-balls only.
  2. Standard Greensomes – needs to be in 2-balls only.
  3. Three or Four clubs + putter.
  4. Texas Scramble – either all play from the chosen spot, or all bar the person whose ball position you have chosen play from the spot.
  5. Better Ball Stableford.
  6. Choose 10 or 15 scores per nine holes – 10 scores for 2-balls and 15 for 3-balls – divide each score by the number of players in the team if teams of uneven numbers are playing.
  7. Yellow Ball Multiplier in various formats e.g. double the yellow ball player’s score on each hole and then multiply the best 2 scores (3-ball) or best 3 scores (4-ball) which need not include the yellow ball..
  8. 1 or 2 scores per first 6 holes, 2 or 3 scores per second 6 holes, 3 or 4 scores per last 6.
  9. A v B & C first 6, B v A & C second 6, C v A & B last 6 holes.
  10. Mulligans or Nasty Mulligans (you ask the opponent to take his shot again).
  11. Foresomes.
  12. Medal round (on the Wyc Heights Par 3?).

If 5 players turn up to play, I think that the only Novelty format that works is the 10 or 15 scores selection but some research may find others.
