From our correspondent:
“7 Bashers arrived at Temple to play a Summer League game and the clouds arrived and skies turned black. Thunder was heard and the Bashers turned jittery.
Stuart went to ask Secretary Keith for the procedure to follow when lightning strikes. The answer is within the local rules on the rear page of the card. ie: “In the event of lightning, please stop play and take safe action”. I thought that meant run like hell but no, it means retreat to a safe shelter.
So, with that question answered, balls were thrown to decide partners.
Rob, John T and Mike S were in the front team followed by Stuart and Peter F with Nick and Bill.
The front team Tee’d off with great drives down the 1st fairway. Although the wind took most of the balls into the trees on the right!
That is the last time I will mention my play. Just because there was nothing worth mentioning. However John T and Mike were playing very steady golf as usual.
At half stage the team scores were: Mike, John (& Rob)- 19pts., Peter F & Stuart – 21pts., Nick & Bill- 18pts.
At the 18th the final scores:
Mike, John (&Rob) – +20. 39pts.
Peter F, Stuart – + 16. 37pts.
Nick & Bill – + 19. 37pts. “
