Summer League finishes at Temple

Not much time to write this report of the final game in the 2022 Summer League at Temple today. The weather was perfect for golf – just right for a warm-up for Portugal. The balls fell so that Robs A and M and I were a team and the opposition was Nick, Roger and JohnS.

It has to be said that our team were the very model of erratic. Between us we hit trees, found every bunker, sliced and hooked – once onto the road past the 11th – topped and thinned alternately, tried reverse grips when putting and just generally failed to impress anybody anywhere near the golf course. Rather than tuning up our games for Portugal, we were hopefully getting rid of all of the rubbish before we went but I would n’t be totally optimistic on that count.

It was no surprise therefore to find that we had lost front 9 by 38 to our 28 points (better ball stableford!!). It was however a surprise to find that we had won the back 9 by 38 to 36 – and therefore unsurprisingly we lost overall.

Nick won the league game today with 33 followed by Roger and me on 32, Robert on 30, Rob on 20 and JohnS on 19.

We were joined by Pete and Bill for a jolly lunch on the patio discussing the failings of the NHS – it’s becoming more important these days somehow.

The final league table is to be found in the Leagues dropdown as well as the updated Master Golfer which still has MikeS well out of sight.
